2004 MX-5 Euphonic
The MX-5 Euphonic was a special edition model for the UK with only 2,000 units produced in 2004.
The Euphonic model was available with both 1.6 and 1.8 engines, the 5-speed gearbox, and in a choice of four paint colours. Brilliant Black was the standard colour, with the MSM/RT/SE colours Sunlight Silver, Velocity Red, and Titanium Grey available at extra cost. All models came fitted with 16" gunmetal alloy wheels as seen on the 2002 Special Edition Miatas. Like the MSM, the 1.8 model was fitted with larger brakes and extra chassis bracing, ABS and LSD
The interior features the MSM two-tone red and black colour scheme but in leather not cloth. The leather trimmed steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake with red contrast stitching are MSM, as well as the unique curl finish on the console trim. The Euphonic was also produced with a six-disc stereo system but not a BOSE like the MSM.
The unique to this model stereo was by Sony's CDX-MP80 CD/MP3 player with motorized fascia plate and remote control. This head unit is a single DIN size so the space underneath was fitted with an extra storage box. Connected to the stereo was a six disc Sony CD changer (CDX-T69) which was mounted in the trunk.
The standard Mazda door speakers were replaced with Sony Xplod loudspeakers paired with Sony tweeters. The Mazda windblocker was standard equipment and added two additional rear speakers for a total of six in the car similar to the MSM..
Elsewhere across Europe this model was known as "MX-5 Colour & Sound".
